There are three options for completing the Master of Arts in Theatre:
- Research-and-Practice track - This track requires 27 credits of graduate-level coursework plus a 3-credit theatre practice project (THTR 690), which is defended orally in the last semester.
- Professional Paper track - This track requires 27 credits of graduate-level coursework plus a 3-credit professional paper (THTR 599), which is defended orally in the last semester.
- Thesis Track - This track requires 24 credits of graduate-level coursework plus a 6-credit critical thesis (minimum of 10,000 words; THTR 699), which is defended orally in the last semester.
