General Degree Requirements
To earn a baccalaureate degree, all students must complete successfully, in addition to any other requirements, the University of Montana General Education Requirements. Please refer to the General Education Requirements page for more information.

Unless otherwise noted in individual program requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all work attempted at the University of Montana-Missoula is required for graduation. Please see the Academic Policies and Procedures page for information on how your GPA is calculated.
Courses taken to satisfy the requirements of a major, minor, or certificate program must be completed with a grade of C- or better unless a higher grade is noted in the program requirements.

Most students begin with M 115, but some students only need Calculus and Stats. Some students may need to take additional or remedial math courses to prepare for M 115, M 162, or M 171.

M 162 or M 171 complete this requirement, but students who are advanced in math or plan to pursue a Masters in Economics should take M 171 and M 172.

GPHY 323S, PSCI 431, FORS 320, M 221, and M 307 can count towards the Economics Elective requirement

M 162 or M 171 must be taken before ECNS 301. Students who have completed Calculus before Year 2 are allowed to take ECNS 301 in Fall Year 2.
