Spanish Minor

General Degree Requirements

To earn a baccalaureate degree, all students must complete successfully, in addition to any other requirements, the University of Montana General Education Requirements. Please refer to the General Education Requirements page for more information.

Unless otherwise noted in individual program requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all work attempted at the University of Montana-Missoula is required for graduation. Please see the Academic Policies and Procedures page for information on how your GPA is calculated.

Courses taken to satisfy the requirements of a major, minor, or certificate program must be completed with a grade of C- or better unless a higher grade is noted in the program requirements.

Minor - Spanish

  • Students are required to maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 in all courses presented in fulfillment of requirements for this minor.

Lower-Division Core 1
Complete all of the following courses:
SPNS 101Elementary Spanish I4
SPNS 102Elementary Spanish II4
SPNS 201Intermediate Spanish I4
SPNS 202Intermediate Spanish II4
Upper-Division Core
Complete all of the following courses:
SPNS 301Spanish: Oral and Written Expression3
Complete one of the following courses:3
Spanish Phonetics
Contemporary Spanish Literature
Cultures and Societies of Latin America
Bilingualism in the Spanish-Speaking World
Upper-Division Electives
Complete 9 additional upper-division credits, including 3 credits at the 400-level. It is recommended that students complete at least one class at the 300 level before taking a 400-level course.9
