General Graduate Program Requirements

The minimum GPA for any graduate program is 3.0. Individual programs may require more than a 3.0 to remain in good standing. 

The minimum grade for a course to be accepted toward any master’s or doctoral requirement is C. The minimum grade for a course to be accepted toward a certificate program is B-. Individual programs may require higher grades for specific courses.

Online Program Option

This program may be completed in an online format. Students interested in pursuing an online degree or certificate program are strongly encouraged to contact the offering department to discuss specific program and course modalities and create a plan of study with an academic advisor. The course requirements listed below may not be consistently offered via online delivery.

Master of Arts - Education

  • The core of the M.A. in Education program will have flexible options in each of 3 key areas: Educational Research, Learning and Assessment, and Critical Issues in Education for total of 12 credits.
  • The remaining requirements include a 3-credit thesis and an additional 15 credits of electives in education-related areas.
  • This program is geared toward graduate students who may already hold teacher licensure or those from other areas interested in professional education degrees to prepare them for work in non-profit or non-school settings.  This degree will also prepare participants for doctoral work in education.
  • All requirements for the degree must be completed within 6 years, including successful completion of a thesis.
