Theatre B.F.A. - Design & Technology
General Degree Requirements
To earn a baccalaureate degree, all students must complete successfully, in addition to any other requirements, the University of Montana General Education Requirements. Please refer to the General Education Requirements page for more information.

Unless otherwise noted in individual program requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all work attempted at the University of Montana-Missoula is required for graduation. Please see the Academic Policies and Procedures page for information on how your GPA is calculated.
Courses taken to satisfy the requirements of a major, minor, or certificate program must be completed with a grade of C- or better unless a higher grade is noted in the program requirements.
BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS - THEATRE; DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY CONCENTRATION
Students who intend to pursue the Design & Technology concentration will normally enter the University as Bachelor of Arts students in Theatre with a focus in pre-Design & Technology. They should then declare intent to pursue the BFA degree no later than the middle of the second semester of a four-year program. Students wishing to pursue a BFA in Theatre in the Design & Technology concentration must:
- Complete a one-year residency at the UM-Missoula campus which includes a minimum of 12 credits in Design & Technology.
- Attain a cumulative 2.5 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in Design & Technology coursework.
- Present a theatre resume and portfolio consisting of class and production work.
- Prepare a written statement explaining their educational and professional goals.
