Photography and Digital Imaging Certificate
This certificate provides fundamental vocational training for anyone who needs to create or utilize effective, compelling photographic images for visual communication. From practical application to conceptual execution, photography has implications across all academic disciplines from the arts to the sciences . This certificate is designed to develop the student’s technical proficiency and creative skill with lens-based media that they can then leverage in whatever career path they might pursue. Students will gain a thorough understanding of camera operation, post-production image editing and retouching, and critical aspects relating to the aesthetics of photography. This certificate is relevant for practically any major discipline across campus. Both fine art and documentary pathways are available.

Unless otherwise noted in individual program requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all work attempted at the University of Montana-Missoula is required for graduation. Please see the Academic Policies and Procedures page for information on how your GPA is calculated.
Courses taken to satisfy the requirements of a major, minor, or certificate program must be completed with a grade of C- or better unless a higher grade is noted in the program requirements.
