Teaching Special Education Certificate
This program of study can only be completed by those pursuing a teaching endorsement in another content area or by currently licensed teachers. Students must be formally admitted to the Teacher Education Program and complete all of the professional education licensure requirements. Unless otherwise noted in individual program requirements, a minimum grade point average of 2.00 in all work attempted at the University of Montana-Missoula is required for graduation. Please see the Academic Policies and Procedures page for information on how your GPA is calculated.
Courses taken to satisfy the requirements of a major, minor, or certificate program must be completed with a grade of C- or better unless a higher grade is noted in the program requirements.
TEACHING LICENSURE - TEACHING SPECIAL EDUCATION
- This certificate requires a minimum GPA of 2.75.
- All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of B-.
- All special education coursework must be completed prior to the special education student teaching experience. An application is required to determine special education student teaching eligibility. See Teacher Education Services or the Office of Field Experiences for deadlines.

Initial licensure candidates complete a 10-credit practicum. Currently licensed teachers complete a 6-credit practicum.
