General Graduate Program Requirements

The minimum GPA for any graduate program is 3.0. Individual programs may require more than a 3.0 to remain in good standing.
The minimum grade for a course to be accepted toward any requirement is C. Individual programs may require higher grades for specific courses.
MASTER OF ARTS - LINGUISTICS
- Students seeking a Master of Arts in Linguistics at the University of Montana complete a 36-credit-hour program of study.
- Thesis and comprehensive exam options are available.
- Any student may elect to pursue the comprehensive exam option.
- Students wishing to pursue the thesis option must submit a thesis proposal draft in their second semester and a final thesis proposal before the start of the following fall semester. Students whose proposals are approved may then elect to pursue the thesis option.
